Reduce the risk of stroke by Walking Longer, Not Faster

walking exercise
Benefits of moderate exercise such as walking have long recognized, one of which lower the risk of stroke. But a new study finds that the benefits felt if someone spends more time on foot, not just a brisk walk away.

According to researchers only by walking at least one to two hours a day, the risk of stroke in people aged 60 years will be reduced. But the right walking exercise is not a strenuous or high speed, but the ordinary.
This fact has been proven by researchers observed 3,435 men aged 60-80 years who were asked about the distance they traveled to on foot every week and the speed they normally wear.

As quoted by the Daily Mail, Saturday (11/16/2013), it turns out that regular participants walking for 8-14 hours per week of one-third less likely to suffer a stroke than participants who walk less than three hours a week. Even for men who walked more than 22 hours per week, the risk reaches two thirds lower.

" So if you continue to observe the 1,000 men who regularly walk 8-14 hours per week for 10 years , on average they only had 55 strokes , but the group only walk three hours per week strokes can be up to 80 times , " said researcher Dr.  Barbara Jefferis from University College London .

" That means the total time spent for walking can provide more consistent protection against stroke than speed , and overall it seems the longer the time spent walking , the greater the benefit , " she added .

Dr. Shannon Amoils of the British Heart Foundation also agreed with the findings of this study and replied , " Whatever your age, it is important to stay active throughout the day . , And this study shows that walking each day can help reduce your risk of stroke . Least exercise routine, even as the A walk in the park can be an effective way for a person to stay healthy. "
